Injection(LSR)

Kenvox provides liquid injection molding tools for manufacturing your production parts. Silicone injection molding tools are only necessary when your volume becomes high enough that it is justified and a lower piece price is desired. If you require several thousand pieces or more on an annual basis, then an injection mold tool will be better suited than a compression mold.

Liquid silicone rubber injection molding is a thermoset process that cools the material delivery system, while heating the mold tool to cure silicone material into parts. The liquid silicone injection molding process is highly automated with short cycle times to reduce the silicone part price. Liquid silicone injection molded parts are elastic with a high degree of chemical, electrical and thermal resistance.

Kenvox is pleased to offer LSR (liquid silicone rubber) injection molding solutions. We manufacture injection molding tools in-house to provide you with rapid silicone prototypes and high/low-volume production parts as the design progresses. Once the injection molding tools are completed, we will provide you with engineering samples. After the engineering samples are accepted, then it is time for LSR silicone injection molding process to commence.
Kenvox is here to guide you from prototyping to high production molding of silicone part designs. We will partner with you through the initial part designs to final prototype to production LSR silicone injection molding as your operation ramps up.

Typical applications for liquid silicone rubber are products that require high precision such as seals, sealing membranes, electric connectors, multi-pin connectors, infant products where smooth surfaces are desired, such as bottle nipples, medical applications as well as kitchen goods such as baking pans, spatulas, etc. Often, silicone rubber is overmolded onto other parts made of different plastics. For example, a silicone button face might be overmolded onto an Nylon 6,6 housing.

Compression

Compression molding has been used to mold rubber parts since the beginning of the rubber manufacturing industry. It is one of the oldest methods still used to mold rubber parts. Kenvox is a silicone molding manufacturer that has utilized compression molding since the year 2003. Silicone compression molding offers Kenvox‘s customers an effective and efficient way to manufacture their liquid silicone rubber prototypes and high/low-volume production parts.

The compression molding process is quite simple when compared to injection molding, transfer molding or extrusion molding. Kenvox will manufacture a compression mold tool which requires CNC machining and hand polishing. Once the tool is ready for engineering samples, then each plate is loaded with liquid silicone rubber. Simple part designs typically only require a two plate mold, which includes a cavity side and a core side. After the material is loaded, the mold plates are assembled and inserted into a compression molding press between the two platens. Next the press is clamped to a set pressure to produce high quality parts. Heat and pressure are applied for a given amount of time allowing the liquid silicone to spread throughout the mold cavity and cure. Then pressure is released from the press, which then opens and the compression mold is removed. Then the plates are separated using hand tools and finally the silicone part is removed. This completes a normal compression molding cycle for a simple silicone part design.

Kenvox has a range of differently sized compression molding presses in both our controlled environment room and on our production floor. This ensures that we can run small to large sized parts and single cavity molds, as well as multi-cavity ones in either space. If needed, we can easily configure our molding equipment and space to meet our customers’ demand for production.
Typical lead time on an Aluminum compression mold is 20 business days, however we can provide 8 and 10 business day expedites if you need your engineering samples fast!

Epoxy

Epoxy resin liquid silicone is divided into two parts of silicone and agent. Liquid silicone‘s colors can be adjusted according to different customers, and the colors will do nothing to the qualities of rockery liquid silicones. When in use, we need to mix the two parts evenly according to a certain proportion first , and then carry on the vacuum processing .
